TECH TUESDAYS: TALKING WITH TECHIES
Has your library discussed creating a Flickr account? A MySpace teen site? Creating a blog? All these ideas are great, yet all have the potential to fail if not implemented well. This session provides practical planning and implementation tips for dealing with emerging digital trends, focusing on setting up new Web 2.0 services such as MySpace, blogs, and Flickr to meet client needs.
Who Should Participate? Technology-minded library staff, managers planning new on-line services, any person interested in successful technology project implementation
The Key Benefits For Participants: Attendees will come away understanding the basics of planning a project involving the new Web 2.0 social tools, and will have some quick tips to use when setting up these emerging tools.

David King David King is the Digital Branch & Services Manager at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. He has years of experience in Web site creation, planning, and design. He has spoken in the U.S. and Canada about Web site usability and management, digital experience planning, and managing techie staff, and has been published in many library-related journals. David writes the 'Internet Spotlight' column in Public Libraries Magazine with Michael Porter. David maintains a blog at http://www.davidleeking.com.
