Our experts and popular speakers at Computers in Libraries and Internet Librarian conferences are sharing a whole roster of free or inexpensive tools covering the gamut of Web 2.0 gadgets and widgets, hosted applications, server side scripts, and desktop tools for Education Institute attendees. They highlight tools for people who are just starting out as well as some advanced applications for Webmasters who like to dig their teeth into a bit of code. Pick up some new tool ideas that can take your site to the next level.

Anyone creating content for the Web site, blog, on-line course pages, subject pages etc.

The Presenters:

Fichter, DarleneDarlene Fichter
is the Coordinator for Data Library Services at the University of Saskatchewan Library. Darlene is particularly interested in the area of human computer interaction and designing positive user experiences. She has been a consultant and project manager for several Web site, portal, digital library and intranet projects. Darlene is columnist for Online magazine and a frequent conference speaker on new and emerging information technologies.








Cervone, Frank
Frank Cervone is an Associate Professor of Education and Director of the Library, Information, and Media Studies program at Chicago State University. The author of numerous articles and four books on topics related to information technology, he writes a regular column for OCLC Systems and Services: International Digital Library Perspectives and has been an invited speaker at library information technology conferences in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and Brazil. He was a member of the NISO working group on metasearch and is the past chair of the CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois) Learning Objects Task Force. He has a MSEd with a specialization in on-line teaching and learning from the California State University, an MA in Information Technology Management from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems from Northcentral University.
