(formerly known as the Child and Youth Expo at OLA Superconference)
Shhh is Out! It’s a Children’s and Youth Blow Out
Storytime’s a little stale?
Want to revive your teen life?
Need a little excitement between the pages?
Then it’s time for a change. Join us on November 14th, 9:00a.m.- 4:00 p.m., for our first ever, all day Children’s and Youth Blow Out at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The Blow Out is a single day one-of-a-kind conference, for children and youth workers in library settings. This event will feature poster sessions – presented by our peers, a Guerilla Storytime, live demonstrations, giveaways and supporting organizations will be in attendance. It will also feature speakers such as Linda Bailey and a presentation by the Author’s Booking Service.
A one stop shop for all things children and youth! Participants will have the opportunity to network, pick up tips and tricks for successful programming, re-charge collections and be exposed to great work being conducted throughout other library systems.
This event is in conjunction with the amazing, fantastic Toronto International Book Fair!
You'll have access to their programming throughout the day - including
Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Jim Gaffigan (Food: a love story),
Kevin Sylvester (Neil Flambe and the Tokyo Treasure) and so much more! See the full Book Fair program here.
Tickets to this event are now sold out. If you would like to be put on a waiting list please email email@example.com
|Welcome and Introductions
||Opening Speaker: Linda Bailey, Canadian Children's Author
||Linda Bailey is best known as the author of the bad-dog series that started with Stanley’s Party. She will be happy to tell you about the real “Stanley,” and even more delighted to reveal the inspiration for her two new picture books, If You Happen to Have a Dinosaur and If Kids Ruled the World — both guaranteed to tickle kids’ funny bones and stretch their imaginations.
||Marsha Skrypuch, Author's Booking Service
||Marsha Skrypuch is known for her award winning books like Making Bombs for Hitler but she has a secret life: running Authors' Booking Service with fellow author Valerie Sherrard. She'll tell you how their service, which is free to schools and libraries, can simplify your author visit needs, assisting with timely subsidy and availability information on Canada's best-loved youth book creators, not to mention the traveling planetarium and the TV comedy writer.
