This session is designed to introduce participants to the prevalence of poor health literacy in Canada, and to recognize its impact on patient health and healthcare costs. Because it is difficult to tell which patients have difficulty in understanding health information it is important to develop verbal and written communication techniques that can be applied to everyone. These techniques will be introduced to participants in an interactive and engaging way.
