Health Literacy & Patient-Centred Care @ Community Hospitals
About this Session:
This session will provide an overview of the elements of patient-centred care and the way in which it interacts with health literacy in a community hospital setting.  Both will be considered in the application of creating patient education resources.
Learning goals:
-Identify the impact of health literacy in the Canadian health landscape.
-Describe the connections between health literacy and person-centred care.
-Demonstrate resources for effective patient education materials.

About the Presenter:
Kimberley Aslett is the Health Informationist at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She has Master’s degrees in English (U Guelph) and Library Science (U Toronto) and is a senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals. Kimberley’s stash of books, fabric and yarn is extensive and somewhat oppressive, but she remains optimistic.
