Supporting Domestic and Sexual Violence Survivors
Supporting Domestic and Sexual Violence Survivors At Your Library

Libraries are in a unique position to offer resources and referrals to those experiencing domestic and sexual violence and stalking. In this webinar, Miranda will teach you what/when/how to say something to a survivor when they disclose and how to improve your library's programs and procedures for survivors.

You will learn how to:

1) Identify your role as a mandatory reporter and understand how to file a report;
2) Recognize best practices for listening to a disclosure; and
3) Select ways to improve your library's programs and procedures for survivors.

About the presenter:

Miranda Dube is a current librarian-current crime victim advocate in New Hampshire. Inspired by a year of service with the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program, Miranda has used her first-hand experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence to help raise awareness of library services to this unique population. Miranda utilizes her MLIS, almost decade long work in a library, and interactions with survivors to identify best practices for providing services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in order to establish the library as a place of empowerment on the path to recovery.
