Standing Up Against Sexual and Gendered Harassment in Libraries

How do you set boundaries with patrons?

Aimed primarily at front-line library workers who experience harassment or want to support their coworkers, this webinar will provide you with practical tools for dealing with sexual and gendered harassment by library patrons such as a handy response resource to nip harassment in the bud. This session is also useful for management interested in providing training and tailoring policies on harassment by patrons.

You will also gain tools on how to start constructive discussions in your workplace to end harassment and to advocate for workplace policies that protect you and your coworkers against it.

You will learn:

1) What is sexual and gendered harassment;
2) Why it's a safety and human rights issue in the workplace;
3) Tools for setting boundaries with patrons, including a handy list of phrases that stop harassment in its tracks; and
4) How to support coworkers who experience harassment by patrons and how to advocate for safer workplaces for staff.
